How Does Negative Information Affect Your Credit Score?
Your credit score is determined by looking at a combination of information from credit cards, available credit, payment history, and other financial information. Negative information like bankruptcies and liens can drastically lower your credit score, but the information won’t stay there forever. After a certain number of years bankruptcies and liens will stop affecting your credit score. Late payments and the amount of available credit can also strongly affect your credit score….
What are the best ways to repair a poor credit rating?
I’m looking to repair my poor credit rating. I owe 10k+ to various creditors. I’m married, we both have a decent paying jobs. My spouse has credit problems as well. Here are my concerns:
1. Are there any immediate steps that I should take to get started?
2. What is considered a “good” score to have when buying a house?
3. What short term steps (6 months to 1 year period) can I take to bring my rating up to a “moderate” level?
4. What long-term steps can I take to make for the future so that I do not fall back to where I am now?
5. I know that some credit counselling services are predatory in nature, and actually put people into more trouble than they had to begin with. Are there any reputable credit counselling services out there (preferably non-profit)?

What types of credit is needed to get a high score?
My credit score is about 615. I am working on improving my score so that I can qualify for a mortgage loan with low financing in about a year or so. I currently have an auto loan, and 3 revolving credit accounts. (All bank credit cards) Two of the revolving accounts are new, and the other almost a year old. My auto loan will be a year old in July of this year. Should I apply for more credit to get my score higher? If so what type of credit? What is a good mixture of credit to have to get a person’s score higher? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

How long does it take to fix a credit score?
I am about $5,000 in debt (NONE OF WHICH IS FROM A CREDIT CARD…I’VE NEVER HAD ONE) and my credit score is a lot lower than I would like it to be. Most of my balance is either medical or utility.
If I pay a $100 balance with a doctors office how much will it raise my score? Or in general if I pay anything off on my credit report how much does it raise the score?
Who Has An 850 Credit Score And How Do You Get One?
Credit scores, on the scale assigned by FICO, range from 300 to 850. Who has an 850 credit score and what canyou do to get one? Less than 1 percent of the population has a credit score above 800, so it’s very unlikely you will have an 850 credit score. However, if your credit score is above 720, you will probably still receive the best rates. What’s the importance of knowing your credit score when the creditors run your credit anyway?
When I apply for loans and tell the creditors what my credit score is they still run my credit. All the reports I read talk about the imporatnce of knowing your credit score and that’s fine. But what’s the importance of knowing my score when the creditors run it anyway? Also, how do we know that the rates that we qualify for are true based on ourcredit score? Is there a chart tat we can put our credit score up against and it tells us what rates we qualify for?
